This is my dining area. The lantern is a new addition and I rather adore it. The lone pinecone I stole/borrowed from my mother. She has had it since she was young. Now it adorns my table for the holidays. I rather like the simplicity of it and think adding a glass box would make it something I could leave out year round, maybe on my mantel or entry table perhaps.
Of course if I had this lovely urn and a plethora of large pinecones then it would make such a statement on my sideboard. I would also love to see it on an entry way table or dresser. Such a stunning piece it would make.
(pinecones and urn can be purchased at the French Market if you are so loving this idea)

The lantern is stunning, the finish is great and I am sure your mom doesn't mind the sticky fingers you have.

Pine cones are my favorite thing to decorate with for the holidays too.
Ooo I love the woodsy-ness of the 1st photo and the blue sofa in front!
so pretty, paula.
Now I'm wishing I would have bought the giant sugar cones I saw this weekend. Such great ideas.
oh my! the lantern is UNBELIEVABLE! It MAKES that room!!!! I love the chairs you have. I can't find any that I like enough to commit to such a large purchase!
Love pinecones as well. I always go out and gather them to use for the holidays
Or how about a glass cloche for the pine cone. I know they are everywhere at the moment but I still like them. And yes, the lantern is fabulous!
I am also a pinecone lover! As a matter of fact, I have been looking for a while for that perfect 18K gold pinecone pendant to be used during the winter holidays. Maybe I find something this year. I love traditions.
The latern is amazing and so is the urn.
And what is that lovely art work above the sideboard?
